Buxus bodinieri
uncut specimen – shrubbery box Low hedging – below 30cms
Bodinieri has bright emerald green oval shaped leaves. Originates from China and is suitable for a sheltered position.
Buxus ‘Macowani’
uncut specimen – shrubbery box
Commonly known as Cape box. Slow growing with delicate shiny green leaves and when mature has a yellow fine grained stem. Prefers a sheltered position, hardy when mature.
Buxus sempervirens
Suitable for topiary Low hedging – below 30cms uncut specimen – shrubbery box
Buxus sempervirens is the most commonly used species of box for topiary, parterres and hedges. It is popular because of its manageable growth habit and small dense, glossy attractive, evergreen leaves.
Buxus sempervirens ‘Elegantissima’
Suitable for topiary Variegated Low hedging – below 30cms uncut specimen – shrubbery box
Elegantissima is sometimes known as silver box. The small variegated leaves have a bright irregular yellow margin with a green centre. It grows slowly and its structure and habit make it very suitable for low hedges, Knot gardens and topiary.
Buxus sempervirens ‘Suffruticosa’

Suffruticosa has a rich shinning green leaf, the structure of the plant is compact. Its habit is dense and slow growing, naturally growing into a rounded shape.
Buxus sempervirens ‘ Suffruticosa Bentley Blue’
Low hedging – below 30cms uncut specimen – shrubbery box
Bentley Blue is very slow growing with a much smaller leaf than semp ‘Suffruticosa’. It has a very neat compact habit.
Buxus sempervirens ‘ Latifolia Maculata’
Suitable for topiary Low hedging – below 30cms Variegated uncut specimen – shrubbery box
Latifolia Maculata is sometimes known as golden box. The leaves are irregularly flecked or streaked with yellow and lime green. Suitable for Knot gardens.
Buxus sempervirens ‘Rotundifolia’
Low hedging – below 30cms uncut specimen – shrubbery box
Rotundifolia has mid green, ovate leaves, with fresh pale green leaves in the Spring.
Buxus sempervirens ‘Memorial’
Suitable for topiary Low hedging – below 30cms uncut specimen – shrubbery box
Memorial has small, dark, re-curved, compact leaves, but is faster growing than Suffruticosa.
Buxus sinica ‘Tide Hill’
Low hedging – below 30cms uncut specimen – shrubbery box (loose hedging)
Tide Hill has pale green leaves and a mound forming habit. It enjoys shade will grow slowly to form a circular loose mound of a metre across that does not necessarily require cutting.
Buxus microphylla ‘ Faulkner’
Suitable for topiary Low hedging – below 30cms uncut specimen – shrubbery box
Faulkner has rounded emerald green leaves that turn a ’foxy’ red in winter. It is a good hedging plant with a low growing habit.
Laurus nobilis
Suitable for topiary Large hedging – up to 2m uncut specimen – shrubbery box
Laurus nobilis commonly known as bay or sweet bay. The leaves are dark green, glossy and oval shaped. The leaves are aromatic and can be used in cooking. Star shaped, pale yellow flowers are produced in the Spring, followed by black fruit.
Phillyrea ‘Latifolia’
Suitable for topiary Large hedging – up to 2m uncut specimen – shrubbery box
Good dark green oval shaped leaves. In between box and bay in size. A popular plant for topiary in the 17th Century.
Taxus baccata
Suitable for topiary Large hedging – up to 2m uncut specimen – shrubbery box
Commonly known as Yew. A native confer with dark green foliage and red berries in the autumn. Slow growing.
Ilex aquifolium ’J.C. van Tol’
Suitable for topiary Large hedging – up to 2m uncut specimen – shrubbery box
Ilex is commonly known as holly, this variety has dark green oval shaped leaves with virtually no spines. Full of bright red berries in the autumn.

  • We reserve the right to adjust our prices without prior notice.
  • Payment for mail orders must be received before despatch of the goods.
  • Every effort is made to ensure that plants are despatched in good condition, pest and disease free, but are sold without warranty.
  • Local deliveries are free on orders over £50.00. For further distances, deliveries will be charged at cost.
  • Mail order goods must be checked for damage before the carriers’ delivery note is signed — as neither the carrier nor ourselves will accept liability unless notified at the time of delivery.
  • Complaints are dealt with on their own merit.
  • Liability is limited to the purchase price of the goods.
